Hi giys when i create my own registration settings can I program my own OTS VOICE SETTINGS INSTEAD OF THE PRESET ONES please? Thankyou.

Mark,

You are talking about two different things. You do one or the other -- either OTS's or registrations.

OTS is stored as part of the style. So you can modify OTS settings, then save the style (as a user style).

To change an OTS, you set the voices the way you want, press the memory button, then one of the OTS buttons.

I was wondering the same thing yesterday, and this morning.

Either use Styles/OTS or use registrations - correct?  But not both at the same time...  In a saved format.

A registration (one to eight) will use styles and OTS, but don't change the style/OTS when you save the registration.

If you use styles/OTS then just load the saved user style and modify/save that style - correct?

Has anyone created a flow chart of the Yamaha architecture that describes Songs, Styles, OTS, and Registrations and how they interact with each other and how they can be used?  Maybe a picture would help everyone understand this.  The permutations of Songs, Styles/OTS, Registrations, Voices is staggering!

The Parameter Chart in the Data Manual lists where each setting is saved. 

The advantage of using a registration for R-L voices is that it is a smaller file and can be loaded quicker. But it your choice.

 Normally you might save 8 Registration buttons each with voice setups and maybe one style for the whole reg or in the extreme a different style on every button. (The auto  OTS button at left should be off.) You then have 8 voice settings directly set in the reg but each style (currently selected by the reg) will also have 4 sets of OTS voices of it's own.  So if you wish you can by pushing the  OTS buttons at the right get up to 12 sets of voices within a reg, or more if the reg calls in more than 1 style. Subject to not getting confused by having  so many choices of course!

Right John...  I see how I would be looking at a minimum of 8 x 3 or 32 voices to select for a song for the right hand using a registration bank. 

When I save the registration bank, each registration button can have it's OTS set as the default (one to three active) voice.  This would allow me to handle the songs, intro, verse 1, chorus, verse 2, chorus, solo begin, break, solo end, verse 3, chorus, ending.  Or any combination of a songs structure.  The typical song I just mentioned has 6 parts that repeat at a minimum, but the last two registration buttons could change a verse's crescendo to give the last verse(s) a different feeling.  Throw in multi-pads that have different beats or rhythms and you have another 4 styles of verses or choruses at your fingertips.

Truly amazing! You can't do this on a Motif XF!  Thanks Guys!
