Tyros 4 and Blind users
« on: October 24, 2011, 10:29:27 AM »
Dear Friends,
I am Spanish and I am blind.
I recently purchased a Yamaha Tyros 4 keyboard. Looking and searching
online,I found this page and this forum.
I am writing here to ask about the accessibility of this keyboard.
any of you know a blind user who use the Tyros 4? There are texts and resources that i can read?
I'm still learning the management. is not difficult but I get lost among
so many screens and buttons.
 Sorry for my poor English.
greetings

Miguel,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your T4 keyboard.

I post a link to our home pages for this forum in case you have not found those yet: http://psrtutorial.com/index.html

Be sure to visit the home pages because you will find lessons, songs, styles and much more there - all free.

Your English is very good - no need to appologize as my Spanish is non-existent.

Simon Smith has produced some audio CD's for learning the Tyros keyboards and you may find those to be very helpful.

I believe you can find the Simon Smith CD's at the following link:

Miguel:

Welcome to the forum.

http://www.incx.org/t3/index.php is a web site developed by a T4 owner who is sight impaired. The site owner, Wally, can also point you to a news group/forum that caters to the blind Yamaha user.

But as Bill has offered, you are more than welcome to ask your questions here, look through the lessons, or the FAQ (http://psrtutorial.com/lessons/faq/PSRFAQ.htm )

Alan Paganelli ( lanandsuzanne@earthlink.net ) is a long time PSR user and might also be able to assist in locating other resources. See Alan web page at: http://home.earthlink.net/~alanandsuzanne/

Regards,

Michael

Hi Miguel. My name is Marco and I am from Slovakia. I am blind student of conservatoire. I play also in keyboard in freetime. I try Tyros 4 in shop and is accessible for the blind. Also, many thinks what Tyros4 have are in My keyboard, but Tyros4's sounds are good. This is My dream have this keyboard, but Slovakia isn't rich like United states or another western countryes. But, we are not poor, like Egypt or African countries. I hope, I will have this keyboard sometime, this is My dream.

Also, I am very happy to meet another blind person here.

Marco

Hi Miguel

The Tyros 4 can be fairly complex to find yourself around the operating system, but setting up registrations can be very useful to get the basic setup and presets you would use.

If someone can help you setup all your registrations, then it would be easier playing the Tyros 4, then simple to scroll up or down to your various registration banks and remember what each of the eight preset buttons were.

Also you might find the ability of the Tyros 4 to memorize Song Style paths and folders scattered within the hard drive by setting up File Access preset buttons. Again, once someone can physically help you set up these presets to your liking, then it would things a lot easier for you access what you want quickly and less chance or error.

I find the Tyros 4 buttons rather stiff and fairly hard to press, which is good to find buttons by feel without accidentally triggering one. The addition of the sliders is definitely perfect to adjust the various parameters by physical position of the slider.

Enjoy the wonderful sounds of the Tyros 4. Always someone here in the forums to help.

Regards, Marcus
