Genos Styles/OTS/Multi Pads / Re: volume settings by part
« Last post by BogdanH on April 17, 2024, 05:24:17 PM »
hello Ken,
...When recording the style how to you control the part volume this way?
The harder you hit the keys, the louder the notes will be: you play gently at beginning and then hit keys harder and harder. I know, that's easy to say... but not that easy to get desired result.
What we usually do is, we play the sequence as good we can (where we mostly concentrate on avoiding mistakes) and then we manually adjust volume (velocity actually) in StepEditor.

hello Ken,
I assume that you're talking about preset (built-in) style... sadly we can only edit Rhytm channel on those -at attempt to edit any other channel, the content is deleted.
The only way to edit preset style is, if you copy it on USB stick, "unlock" it on PC and then copy back to keyboard. Try with this free Style unlocker.

Thank you very much for your answers. I don't have a pitch bend wheel, and the spring is returning to the centre position. I have opened the hull of the tyros4. The nearest yamaha dealer is in Riga. I am from Lithuania, so for me the distance to Riga is over 500km. I am waiting for more answers from forum members. I am asking for help, because Tyros4 is my dream instrument.

Genos Styles/OTS/Multi Pads / volume settings by part
« Last post by Ken Stenzel on April 17, 2024, 04:25:56 PM »
I am hearing some styles where, for example, an organ part is soft at bar one and by then end of bar 12 it has risen to a higher volume. When recording the style how to you control the part volume this way?
  Thank you

I have a style where I want to remove some of the notes on one channel (ex ch1) I see how I can edit drum parts but don't see how to edit any other channel in style creator. Is there a good tutorial about step editing a style? Thanks

Genos - General / Re: Genos Output to a high end Samsung Soundbar

Ah, now I see you're talking about soundbar set... which puts the things in different light -especially considering the price.

First you asked about latency and now I see you're about to decide for wireless set of loudspeakers.. and you also plan to add mixer.
Keep in mind that this Samsung is meant for (smaller) home cinema and there are no specifications whatsoever. There's no way I would buy this for keyboard (not even at half the price).
For the same money (about $1000) you can get a pair of decent monitors+subwoofer, which will not only sound much better: it will also make connections more flexible.

Just my opinion,
Bogdan

Oops, sorry. I've had too many birthdays! Thanks, Bill.

I looked it up and the specs don't show the frequency response 👎. It's very much a consumer electronics piece of hardware. Often those drivers are not designed for louder musical instrument transients. Don't confuse explosions in movies with sudden loud sounds of a piano, drum, or bass guitar patch from the Genos.

I'd still look at a musical instrument solution.

I had to have my pitch wheel replaced about 4 or 5 years ago. I took it to an Authorized Dealer and he had no problem getting the parts to replace the wheel. As I recall it was $160.

The issue was not the spring but the Wheel. The hole in the center of the wheel had enlarged and was no longer round. The Dealer asked me, "What I did to get it like that?" I smiled and told him I play Country music and I am bending a lot of guitar and pedal steel guitar notes with the wheel.  ;D

Welcome to the PSR Tutorial Forum, werikas3210!

The Tyros4's Pitch Bend Wheel assembly contains a spring that automatically returns the PB Wheel to center position when released. I suspect that this spring is damaged and/or no longer in the correct position.

I recommend having the Wheel assembly inspected by an experienced keyboard technician, preferably an authorized Yamaha service center.

See also the attached screenshot (from the Tyros4 Service Manual). You will also find the relevant spare part numbers there.

Best regards,
Chris
