Play MIDI on PC
« on: February 23, 2014, 04:49:49 PM »
I had problem with MIDIs sounding really bad on PC. I was going to use StyleMaker and then had to have a sequencer, that's how it started.

Well, I was thinking maybe some one else have same problem so I put this guide together, guide is not perfect but I think I got most steps there...

This is how I got it better, but not near Yamaha keyboard:

Installed MIDI sequencer - Speedy MIDI (freeware)
Install a software midi synthesizer - Coolsoft Virtual midi synt (freeware)
Install soundfonts in virtual midisynt - Timbres of heaven (freeware)

Then you need to go to Speedy MIDI and select preference and set MIDI port -out to Coolsoft Virtual midisynt.

Restart Speedy midi
Load midi and play.

Sound is still not good but it might be called OK for testing  :-\
If someone know how to improve sound quality (but don't connect keyboard) I would be glad to hear about it.

I found Michel Bedsem had wrote midi software, Mixmaster,  designed special for editing midifiles for Tyros and PSR. I have more to learn before I can tell anything about it  :-[
