Tyros 1 vs PSR 910
« on: March 23, 2012, 03:38:44 PM »
I would like to know if anyone can help me make my mind...
I am a home musician. I compose and play for me, my family and my friends enjoyment. I play by myself since I don't have any musician friend where I live. Here, out of nowhere, there is only one music store, fifty miles away and the only keyboard they had, when I was there, was a Casio WK 3800 (which surprised me when I played and remembered of the old Casios).
I have a Hammond XK3c with lower keyboard and pedal board, a B3 of the 21st century, which I enjoy and has a class of it's own but, I also enjoy the sound of other instruments, I miss the rest of my imaginary band, therefore I'm thinking to get me something that would sound complete...
I read people writing that Yamaha is more like a toy, a better Casio, too plastiquee but that is not what I hear at Youtube.
I had Korgs in the old days ( a nightmare) and I'm not too convincing about Roland...
Of all I heard on demonstrations and elsewhere I was thinking between a Yamaha PSR S 910 or a Tyros1 (That's all I can afford at this moment) and they run around similar price... Which one would be better?
Can anyone help?

The Tyros is 10 year old technology. The choice is simple go for new.

The Tyros line does have some features that are not available on the PSR line.

But if you don't need these specific things, then the 910 has some advantages.

Definitely go for the S910 - no question about it.

The 910 has many new voices and features not found in the Tyros 1.

The Tyros 1 uses the old clunky floppy disk for storage and the 910 uses
USB sticks - the USB is faster and hold much more files than the old floppy disk.

There are many, many more reasons to go for the 910.

I wasn't going to do anything today - so far, I'm on schedule, :)

You've heard some say that Yamahas are Toy's  -probably the cheapo ones
Have them just listen to some of the creations on this site alone with mid range and older Yamaha's  :D
Get the S910; you will have a blast playing it and creating away plus thousands of styles or you can create your own

psr s910 has usb recording and mp3 playback audio styles
lan port for internet access
s910 is far better to use
and you can use it to remove vocals from mp3 music
